Give me a way!!!

Yesterday, me and my friend, Rohit were chatting by SMS on the topic Janmashtmi (a Hindu festival celebrated for the occasion of birth of lord Krishna, came this year on 14 august). At that time, we decided to do something new… to chat in pure Hindi or Sanskrit words… (In contrast, we, the Indians, totally live on the language of HINGLISH; Hindi + English , so it's a big thing for us, i guess...) He is extremely talented and has a very good command over the language English and Hindi. And also, I was the good scorer in Hindi in my school days… so no many problems were aroused during the chatting. But yes, I had the problems while thinking of the words. Even I don’t get the meaning of most of the words correctly he is using… What we were doing (at least me) that as any new word stroke on our mind, we used in the lines in anyway without any purpose… for instance:

“दुर्जन शिष्ट बहिश्त के मध्य अपने निष्ट दुर्जन बनकर मेरी ४ वर्ष रूपी शेषशय्या को कष्ट कम दिया है, में क्रिथार्त हूँ…” (In the midst of evils, u support me in my 4 dreadful years, I m blessed...)... :)

“अपने क्या अपने हिन्दी भाषा में अपनी उपलब्धि को प्रर्दशित करने हेतु पूर्व संदेश भेजा है .ज्ञात होता है, अलंकृत शब्दों के प्रयोग से आप भलीभाति अभिभूत है एवं गहरा रुझान भी रखते है. जानकर प्रसन्नता हुई…” (Do you send your last message to show your achievement in pure Hindi language? Seems that, you are much aware with the language and even shows your interest. Good to know that.)... :)

It can easily be spoken in few easy Hindi words, but eagerness of using the new words is something else. Especially those, whose meanings are familiar, but hard to get at right time, as may be it present in our subconscious mind due to lack of using in our day-to-day life. We shared 22-25 SMS, a typical task and at last, it was all fun…

But now here, i divert to an another point. For any country, it is sad that their people do not feel pride to speak fluently their own national language. When normally anybody speaks, he creates the mess of Hindi and English... I am also the one and normally all in our country belong to same mass. We get habituated of it and even don’t want to get rid of it bcoz being a communicative language, English becomes a need.

But now, here I dare to compare ourselves with the Foreigners. In a meaningless surfing, I jump to some blogs of different people with different languages. Some made their full blog in Portuguese language, some in Japanese and some in others. It reflects their dedication towards their language… also shows full respect. I am overwhelmed…

I don’t know how I convince my people to respect our 'HINDI' and in what way but the fact is that one can respect others only if he respect himself (or his things)…Even I don’t know how I show my respect to my language. I am feeling loaded and don’t get any strong reason to stop these feelings. I am in pain…confused!!! So please help me! Kindly give me your precious suggestions …

Waiting for your comments….

  1. reality check ... the blogs that u see in japanese etc. are because those people dont knw english, its a fact ... that india can speak better english than the english themselves ... it's not about respect

however, i agree that one should respect the mother tounge ... whether its hindi or any other language ... every language has its own charm, it just so that english is the easiest language that there can be ... and so globally its very effective ...

i love my mother tounge, its not hindi ... its haryanvi ... i love tht .. ppl outside haryana think of ppl speaking haryanvi as illitrate ppl, but they dont knw a heck abt it, usually ...

what we speak in north india is called hindustani, which is a mixture of hindi, urdu and a lil' bit of english ... if u see closely, there are very few people that may speak the traditional english, like they dont speak pure hindi here in india ...

i think language too follows darwins theory of evolution :P

so, we just have to accept it, preserving it is a nice thought, though ........

  3. very well written..i support your claim that we indians have left our mother tongue and Hindi speaking people are getting fewer and fewer in number. Even at places speaking English is considered as superior.Even I have seen people speaking english to those who speak to them in Hindi. Nothing is being done in this direction.Even quite a few people know about "Hindi day".

Good policy makers or responsible education representatives should devise some way to take this thing into account.Political leader sucks and they'll just concentrate so as how to make this issue political and gain edge. Its the time we should do something.Atleast we should speak Hindi on Independence day, Republic day and Hindi day.

I have request for all of you who is reading my comment to make an attempt in speaking Hindi at least on Hindi day. For your convenience 14th September is celebrates as Hindi day.

I am also deeply concerned with the fact that education these days have become a costly affair. No information is available free of cost as such.I remember Rabindranath Tagore's saying "The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence".In an attempt to help engineering aspirants free of cost I have started a site which makes an attempt in providing valuable inputs, guidance and counselling tips to budding IIT aspirants.

Regardless how much attractive, Silk never, never, never replace the charm of Cotton...

I think we should step ahead.. Let's write at least one complete article in our Hindi, so that world can seen that how much we love and respect our 'HINDI' when at the same time we also having the good command over the English too...

  5. First of all, i am worst in any kind of language communication. So its a saving grace for me that atleast i can make people understand my thoughts.

I would like to share an incident when some friends of my brother, from Germany came to India. And to my surprise they couldnt speak good English as we are forced to speak. They use their English just as a tool for globalisation. But we treat it as a national language. And unlike them, we are ashame of speaking in Hindi.
